World Cup 2010: The top players to watch in South Africa
With the start of the World Cup just a few days away we take a look at the key player to watch for all 32 teams competing for soccer's biggest prize.
FRANCE, GROUP A: Thierry Henry
Henry, 32, who according to sources, has agreed to join the Red Bulls after the World Cup, still has the speed to be dangerous. However, he made only 19 appearances and scored only five goals in 19 games this past season for Barcelona. According to sources on both sides of the Atlantic, Henry has agreed to join the Red Bulls, although he is still under contract with the Spanish La Liga club. Henry, like it or not, most recently is best known for a controversial handball in a World Cup qualifying playoff in November. Henry used his hand to control the ball before sending a cross to William Gallas to score the winner in a 2-1 victory over Ireland that sent the French to South Africa. The incident made worldwide headlines and led to criticism against Henry that he was a cheat.
Style of Play: When they're sharp, the French can play some of the most attractive soccer around, keeping the ball low and moving. But alas, this team has not been consistent enough to become an imposing force.

1. Wesley Sneijder (Holland) – the player was inspirational in helping lead Inter Milan to the Champions League final. Not only that, but they won.
2. Diego Forlan (Uruguay) – prolific over the last few years and on top form this year in the Europa League for Athletico Madrid.
3. Wayne Rooney (England) – had a fantastic season for Man United until injury ruined what could have been the perfect finale. Will want to make amends for his sending off 4 years ago. Chance of golden boot.
4. Gonzalo Higuain (Argentina) – 29 goals in 39 games for Real Madrid this season. If he can get in the team ahead of Tevez then he could be another contender for the golden boot.
5. Lionel Messi (Argentina) – Undoubtably the best player in World football at the moment. I don’t think Argentina will reach the final, but Messi’s skill will be remembered for years after this World Cup has finished.
