How Can I be Safe When I Travel Abroad?

    Hi

If you travel abroad, chances are you won't encounter any problems. However, being prepared for little emergencies can make a big difference when away from home. Even before you leave home, there are things you can do to make your travel abroad safer.

    Thanks

    Hi

Sign passport, and fill in the emergency information: Make sure you have a signed, valid passport, and a visa, if required, and fill in the emergency information page of your passport.

Leave copies of itinerary and passport data page: Leave copies of your itinerary, passport data page and visas with family or friends, so you can be contacted in case of an emergency.

Check your overseas medical insurance coverage: Ask your medical insurance company if your policy applies overseas, and if it covers emergency expenses such as medical evacuation. If it does not, consider supplemental insurance.

Take precautions to avoid being a target of crime: To avoid being a target of crime, do not wear conspicuous clothing or jewelry and do not carry excessive amounts of money. Also, do not leave unattended luggage in public areas and do not accept packages from strangers.

    Thanks

    Hi

Travel insurance can help replace any items that you lose as a result of theft, but by keeping your eyes open and your wits about you, such problems can be prevented. Conmen often work in teams, so if a stranger bumps into you or spills something on you, don't let yourself be distracted - watch out for their partner who may be trying to rifle through your valuables!

    Thanks

    Hi

Safety begins when you pack. To help avoid becoming a target, do not dress in a way that could mark you as an affluent tourist. Expensive-looking jewelry, for instance, can draw the wrong attention.

Always try to travel light. You can move more quickly and will be more likely to have a free hand. You will also be less tired and less likely to set your luggage down, leaving it unattended.

Carry the minimum number of valuables, and plan places to conceal them. Your passport, cash and credit cards are most secure when locked in a hotel safe. When you have to carry them on your person, you may wish to put them each in a different place rather than all in one wallet or pouch. Avoid handbags, fanny packs and outside pockets that are easy targets for thieves. Inside pockets and a sturdy shoulder bag with the strap worn across your chest are somewhat safer. One of the safest places to carry valuables is in a pouch or money belt worn under your clothing.

If you wear glasses, pack an extra pair. Pack them and any medicines you need in your carry-on luggage.

    Thanks

Check your overseas medical insurance coverage: Ask your company if your health insurance policy applies overseas, if it includes emergency expenses such as medical evacuation. If you do not consider the additional insurance.

First book a car or taxi for going anywhere you want. Carry the minimum number of valuables, and plan to hide. Your passport, cash and credit card is the most secure, the lock in the hotel safe. When you have your people on them, you may wish to each of them in different places, not in the same wallet or pouch.

As much as possible avoid walking on dark streets choose an accommodation that is pretty near on bus stops and other means of transportation in order to avoid a long walk specially if during night. Always take your passport with you when you tour around a certain place.

Don't take heavy luggage with you when you are traveling abroad. Try to avoid any alcoholic products with you. Keep your passport, cash and credit cards in a hotel for more safety.

Check the travel advisories at the State Department's travel website before you leave home to get the latest information on the place you're visiting. Register your trip with the relevant embassy on this site just in case something happens.

Make sure that you are taking proper knowledge about the things happening in the country you are planning to travel. As in most of the countries, strong protests are happening against government and thats why it would be right to avoid traveling to such countries.

When you visit other country make sure that you made a review on their customs especially common governing laws. If in case you bump into something unlawful or you are having legal problems, don't hesitate to contact the nearest Embassy.

When you are traveling to new country, you know nothing about the streets, clubs, taxi fares or anythings. Thats why I would recommend you to take help of travel agents and to book a taxi online for safe traveling and not getting cheated by locals.

When you travel abroad, stay away from situations that may cause legal trouble. Never buy from or exchange money with somebody on the streets. If you must travel abroad to a high-risk area, make sure you register with the US embassy as soon as you arrive at your destination because these are best post for travel related.
