Selecting a Web Hosting Operating System

While looking for a web hosting provider then one of the first things that you often have to consider is what operating system the server will run on. Different web hosting providers use different operating systems to host the websites. This is a main criterion that you must check out for before selecting a web hosting service provider.

*Linux - Linux is one of the most widely used operating systems on the Web. It is also widely preferred by the web hosting service providers. This is mostly because it is so cheap to install and get up and running.
*Macintosh - Macintosh web hosting servers are very uncommon. In fact, if you want to host your site on a Macintosh server then you will probably have to look into web hosting your site yourself.
*Unix - Unix is very much alike Linux but still is not as common on web hosting services. This is so because it is more expensive and the hardware is also more specific.
*Windows - Windows is another very common operating system used for Web hosting services, mainly because it has a lot of support.

    Re:

If you are familiar with the Windows operating system, having a Windows based server will make the learning process much easier. You won’t have to worry about learning a new language just to maintain your website. For beginners, this is a definite plus.

    About Space for websites

Web or disk space is the most vital part in the considerations relating to the determination of the hosting provider. Space in respect of such hosting services refers to the quantum of data that can be stored on the disk area offered by the provider for the client. While the usual market trend is web space provisions in the range of 50 MB to 1000 MB, it could be different depending on the requirements and budget of the client.

Nice information. I would like share my thoughts in this. Linux and Windows are two popular operating system. Among those i would prefer Linux operating system. Because Linux has more advantages over Windows. Linux is open source, virus free platform, free softwares, manage more files etc... But these are some what not possible with Windows. So according to me Linux is the best operating system for web hosting. To get reliable Linux based webhosting service at low cost, visit the site 9cubehosting.com .
