How much time take google generally to update site positions on search pages? I done the off-page like article submission, forum posting to move our site in ranking since the last one month, but I can't seen any changes in ranking.

It’s Depend on your SEO Activities. If you have done good SEO on your website then definitely you can come top in Search Engines. As you said that you are doing off page on your website but you are not getting any type of result then i suggest you to Check your on page activities and continue with Quality Link Building Activities.

It depends on the competition of the keyword and the relevancy of your site with that keyword and along with the number of backlinks to your site specially quality backlinks. If you get a lot of backlinks with that keyword as anchor text in those links then it will be easier to get rank soon.
