Hi

Sometimes referred to as pleural mesothelioma, pleural cancer is a condition in which cancer cells develop in the pleura. The pleura is the sac that encloses the lungs along with the mesothelium, the thin membrane that is vital to the proper expansion and contraction of the lungs during the process of breathing. This form of lung cancer is one of the most prevalent forms of mesothelioma.

Exposure to asbestos is the single most common trigger for the development of pleural cancer. Constant exposure to an environment where asbestos is present makes it possible for the individual to breathe in loose asbestos fibers that can lodge in the lining of the lungs and begin to cause inflammation. As the inflammation increases, the potential for tumors to develop increases significantly

Thanks

Treatment of a Malignant Pleural Effusion
The goal in treating a malignant pleural effusion is palliative, that is, to improve quality of life and reduce symptoms but not to cure the cancer.

Thanks

Metastatic pleural tumor is a kind of cancer that has spread from another. The blood and lymph systems can take cancer cells to other organs in the body.

So if it starts to effect the Pleural than in theory it could shut down the organs around it?

A cancerous pleural tumor is most often a secondary cancer, triggered by cancer cells that have spread to the pleural space from somewhere else in the body (usually the lungs). It is extremely unlikely that people who have never had cancer before will develop a metastatic pleural tumor. But patients who have had cancer are at risk, especially if treatment of that cancer was not totally successful in controlling it. Even so, the incidence of these tumors is rare, affecting perhaps one in 2,000 cancer patients.
